Gallup is a single pollster; our average combines many pollsters and survey methods, so the second-term figure is a close guide rather than a like-for-like comparison. Earlier Gallup figures are from Gallup’s own trend pages and the American Presidency Project at UC Santa Barbara.
Orders signed from inauguration day through the same day of each term. Counts come from the Federal Register, checked twice a day; Reagan’s and George H. W. Bush’s come from National Archives records because the Federal Register’s database starts in 1994.
Executive orders are numbered in sequence, so each count is the last order number signed by that date minus the term’s first order number, plus one. Newly signed orders appear in the Federal Register a few days after signing. Follow every second-term order in our executive orders tracker.

640 days into his second term, Trump’s approval is 34.4% in TrumpInsight’s polling average. At the same point, Gallup measured Joe Biden at 40% and George W. Bush at 67%, the lowest and highest of the 7 earlier terms. 7 of those 7 were rated higher than Trump is now. Gallup no longer measures presidential approval, so Trump’s current figure comes from a different method.
Trump had signed 291 executive orders by day 640 of his second term, according to the Federal Register, more than any president in this comparison at the same point. The next highest is Joe Biden with 103.
Gallup stopped publishing approval ratings of presidents and other individual political figures at the start of 2026; the change was reported in February 2026. Its last reading of Trump was 36% approve and 59% disapprove (December 1–15, 2025). This page uses TrumpInsight’s average of national polls instead, which is not directly comparable with a single Gallup poll.
The president’s party lost House seats in 6 of the 7 first midterms since 1982. The largest loss was Obama’s in 2010 (−63 seats); George W. Bush’s Republicans gained 8 seats in 2002. Trump’s second-term midterm is on November 3, 2026.
We count days from each president’s inauguration day (day 0). Today is day 640 of Trump’s second term, so every earlier term is shown as of its own day 640. Approval uses the latest Gallup poll whose fieldwork had ended by that day; executive orders count every order signed by that date; unemployment and inflation use the same month of the term (20 months after the inauguration month).
Yes. Trump was 78 years and 220 days old on January 20, 2025, the oldest of any president at inauguration. The previous record was Biden’s 78 years and 61 days in 2021.
Trump’s second-term approval is TrumpInsight’s average of national polls; all earlier approval figures are Gallup’s. Executive-order counts, unemployment and inflation are recalculated from the Federal Register and FRED twice a day.
